Apprenticeship Training
North Wales Training provides a number of work based learning courses, including apprenticeships.
Apprenticeships are nationally designed work based learning programmes which offer learners the opportunity to enhance their skills through a combination of work based leaning and training.
Apprenticeships are made up of three elements: Competence based qualifications, Essential Skills and Knowledge Certificates which focus on a different aspect of a learners development. Apprenticeship frameworks are funded by the Welsh Government for anyone over school leaving age.
There are two different levels of Apprenticeship available:
Foundation Apprenticeships incorporate NVQ Level 2, equivalent to 4-5 GCSE’s at grades A-C.
Modern Apprenticeships include an NVQ at Level 3, equivalent to two A Levels
Award, Certificate, Diploma (NVQs)
Forming an element of an apprenticeship, Qualifications are based on competence, achieved through assessment and training in the workplace. They are highly regarded by employers as they demonstrate learners have the knowledge, experience and skills required to perform in the workplace.
Essential Skills Wales
Essential Skills Wales are a range of skills that are used all the time and underpin success in education, employment and lifelong learning. There are six Essential Skills Wales qualifications which can be achieved at different levels; these are Communication, Application of Number, Information Technology, Working with Others, Improve Own Learning and Problem Solving.
Knowledge Certificates
Knowledge Certificates have been introduced into certain Apprenticeship frameworks. They are vocationally related qualifications that assess the underpinning knowledge and understanding relevant to the learners chosen vocational area.

You are expected to spend your own time to gain your qualifications and undertake home study.It can be hard, but it can be very rewarding.
